Tortuga Negra mangrove - Santa Cruz Galapagos
Caleta Tortuga Negra is a mangrove estuary on the northern coast of Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos Islands. This cove is surrounded by mangroves and can only be reached in panga. The bay is a safe place for young underwater life by the water being shallow. It is common to see sharks, sea turtles and rays. The national park has strict regulations to protect this pristine environment. Tourists can visit the cave through pangas (local boats), but with the engines off. Many rays, sea turtles, pelicans and other wild animals live in the mangroves. Punta Tortuga Negra represents an ideal visit site for the geological interpretation of the islands.
It is only possible to go on a navigable tour (40 minutes from Puerto Ayora) or from the Itabaca channel, you can take a boat to the site.
